The building’s atrium is the epitome of human-centric building design, making anyone who steps in feel instantly welcomed. Designed to resemble a vibrant city square, the atrium acts as the central welcome zone for anyone who ventures within the quarters.

The warm atmosphere of the atrium is sure to inspire social connection and productivity. An accentuated staircase sits at the heart of the atrium, connecting both informal and tenant areas to further facilitate socialisation.

The design is the ideal convergence between efficiency and flexibility.

EDGE HafenCity Hamburg is inspired by the HafenCity district and its diversity, serving as a mix of prime office, conference areas, informal spaces and individual leasable workspaces. The floorplans follow the guiding principle of modularity, primed for maximum efficiency and flexibility.

EDGE HafenCity has four cores - each containing two elevators – that support the building and allow for easy navigation. WWith over 250 informal workstations throughout the building, occupants can break monotony while staying productive outside their assigned cubicles. Situated only minutes away from public transport, the building also overlooks the view of the Baakenhafen harbour basin, a treat for the eyes amid the workday.

Environmental consciousness is at the forefront of EDGE HafenCity’s construction and maintenance.

This development is well on its way to being one of the most sustainable buildings in the world, having reduced the operational carbon footprint per sq m, to only ca. 2.4 kg per year. The building will be highly energy-efficient, having received a Platinum WELL Core pre-certification and is expecting a platinum HafenCity Ecolabel.

Designed to encourage social interaction and promote well-being, the staircases invite physical activity and reflect the WELL concept of healthier building design, making them both a functional and aesthetic focal point of the atrium.
