EDGE Coolsingel Rotterdam

EDGE Coolsingel will incorporate district heating and on-site generated energy, striving for zero operational carbon emissions. Operational energy targets have been set at 25 kWh/m²/yr for building-related energy and 25 kWh/m²/yr for user-related energy, aligned with the Paris Climate Agreement.

Additionally, the re-use and preservation of bio-based materials in the construction of this project optimally reduces carbon emissions. The hybrid structure consists of wooden columns and cross-laminated timber (CLT) floors, in combination with a concrete core.

The integration of wood throughout the interior also ensures a warm environment that fosters creativity and collaboration. With its green terraces at various levels, the building provides a haven for biodiversity and helps in climate adaptation and water retention, meeting Rotterdam’s sustainability goals.

EDGE Coolsingel is strategically situated where accessibility meets opportunity. Reachable within 10 minutes by foot from Rotterdam Centraal, the project aims to ensure accessibility to the city centre via any mode of transport in under 10 minutes.

To bring the 21,500 m2 (LFA) of functions together across 11 floors, the design places a key focus on transparency and openness, blending the indoor with the outdoor spaces in an inviting and dynamic space.
