Revolutionizing the office: UseSpace and Edge redefine commercial spaces for social good
EDGE Workspaces, daughter company of Edge, and start-up UseSpace launch partnership to advance the untapped potential of office buildings, with a commitment to bringing wider social value locally.
Recognizing the evolving dynamics of urban spaces, UseSpace takes on the challenge to redefine the traditional approach to commercial real estate with developer Edge and partner EDGE Workspaces. Office buildings present an opportunity to reimagine the role of building space, maximizing their potential to serve as catalysts for positive social change in local neighborhood.
Pilot initiative at EDGE Stadium, Amsterdam
The atrium of the EDGE Stadium, typically empty on a Friday evening after work hours, transforms into a rehearsal space for the 80-piece Symphony Orchestra De Philharmonie every Friday evening. Tonight, on October 13, the orchestra extended an invitation to the local community to attend an open rehearsal. Nearby residents, workers, organizations and the municipality were welcomed to join. Attendees have not only enjoyed a unique experience but have also had the chance to forge better connections and learn more about their neighbors. Symphony Orchestra De Philharmonie is the first of many orchestras which will find their new rehearsal space in EDGE Stadium’s atrium, however not every rehearsal will be made public events.
Florijn Vriend, Head of Wellbeing & Social Impact at Edge.
We believe that every square meter has the potential to be a catalyst for positive change in our communities. With this unique pilot project at EDGE Stadium, we are not only showing a great example of social impact, but also redefining the role of real estate developers within cities,
Caecila Groot, President at Symfonieorkest De Philharmonie
We are pleasantly surprised to be able to rehearse in the atrium of EDGE Stadium on Friday evenings. The atmosphere and facilities are great, and the acoustics remarkably good. The fact that the buildings tenants and nearby residents can come and listen along to our rehearsal is a nice addition too for everyone.
This match is one of the many UseSpace is working on in Amsterdam. With the aim of optimizing the use of space by combining user functions, the start-up creates space for everyone in the city. UseSpace shares a holistic approach that benefits both the commercial landscape and the wider community. With Edge onboard, the start-up brings new life into spaces, providing resources to social initiatives during previously underutilized hours in Zuidas. This forward-thinking strategy elevates the functionality of spaces globally and fosters a deeper sense of community and purpose on a local level.
