EDGE ArenAPoort welcomes new tenant Achmea
EDGE is proud to announce that Achmea, one of the largest insurance providers in the Netherlands, has committed to a long term lease at EDGE ArenAPoort, formerly known as nieuwAmsterdam. As owner and developer of the building, EDGE is investing in a sustainable and future ready workplace. Achmea will occupy approximately 7,200 sqm of office space.
With this move, Achmea and Edge underline their shared ambition to create a healthy, inspiring and future proof working environment at the emerging and vibrant location of Amsterdam Zuidoost. EDGE ArenAPoort is located directly next to Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA station, offering excellent accessibility by public transport as well as via major arterial roads. The building forms part of a large scale mixed use area where working, living, hospitality, retail and public amenities come together. The location aligns seamlessly with Achmea’s long term vision on accessibility, sustainability and workplace quality.
In this transaction, Edge was legally advised by Loyens & Loeff. Achmea was advised by CBRE as integral advisor and legally by RechtStaete.

It is important for us to provide a working environment that fits our activities and the way we work. Our new sustainable home, EDGE ArenAPoort, aligns well with our needs and with the planned concentration of employees in Amsterdam, as Achmea Investment Management relocates from Zeist to Amsterdam, increasing our space requirements in the city. In 2028, the first employees will move from MediArenA to EDGE ArenAPoort, and we look forward to our new location in Amsterdam.
In the coming period, EDGE ArenAPoort will be further upgraded in terms of sustainability. This redevelopment fits within EDGE’s broader strategy to consciously reduce CO₂ emissions by transforming existing buildings. By redeveloping and upgrading a building from the 1980s, Edge significantly extends its lifespan and future proofs it. The part of the building that Achmea will occupy will be upgraded to Paris Proof standards and will achieve a BREEAM Excellent In Use certification.
In addition to the sustainability measures, the building will also receive an aesthetic upgrade, transforming EDGE ArenAPoort into a modern and high quality office building, in line with Edge’s standards and ambitions.
