Edge appoints Marian Herman as new CEO, Coen van Oostrom transitions to Executive Chair

Edge, Europe’s leading sustainable real estate developer and emerging investment manager, is entering a dynamic new chapter in its international growth journey. As the company expands its focus beyond development and into global investment management, it is strengthening its leadership team to align with its ambitions.

From September 1st, Marian Herman will step into the role of CEO at Edge, following a transition period beginning in May. Marian brings with him extensive international experience, having served as Group CEO of HB Reavis. He will work closely with founder and current CEO, Coen van Oostrom over the coming months to ensure a smooth handover.

Coen will transition into a new role as Executive Chair. In this capacity, Coen will remain deeply engaged in the business, dedicating his time to client relationships, strategic deal-making, global networking, and cultivating the unique culture that has defined Edge since its inception. While stepping away from people management, he will continue to shape the company’s direction and values from the front.

Founded in 1997, Edge has grown to become one of the largest developers in the Netherlands and a pioneer of sustainable, tech-forward buildings in markets such as the UK, US, and Germany. With over 80 assets delivered and a €5.3 billion pipeline of projects, the business has worked with and created buildings for some of the largest funds and businesses in the world. In February 2022, Edge announced a strategic partnership with Macquarie Asset Management to acquire a significant minority stake of the business to pioneer the next phase of sustainable real estate development.

Edge is now poised for its next stage of growth. This transformation is grounded in its bold “brown to green” strategy aimed at repositioning existing assets to meet the performance demands of the future.
