Edge acquires nieuwAmsterdam asset in Amsterdam-Zuidoost

Leading European real estate investor and developer, Edge is pleased to announce the acquisition of the nieuwAmsterdam asset, located at Bijlmerdreef 51, Hoekenrode 1-6, 8 and 10, and Hoogoorddreef 50 in Amsterdam-Zuidoost.

The acquisition further expands Edge’s footprint in Amsterdam-Zuidoost and demonstrates the company’s focus on acquiring standing assets with strong value-add potential. The asset comprises approximately 40,400 sqm of office, F&B and hotel space and benefits from a highly accessible location directly adjacent to the Bijlmer ArenA train station, providing excellent connectivity to central Amsterdam and beyond.

Edge will apply its active asset management approach to enhance both the quality and long-term performance of the building. A key part of this strategy is to enhance the building’s sustainability performance, targeting Paris Proof standards for operational carbon in the office spaces. Achieving this requires close collaboration with our tenants, and Edge is committed to driving energy efficiency well beyond today’s baseline.

This acquisition aligns with our strategy of acquiring standing assets in strategic locations where we can add value through active asset management in combination with our inhouse development skills,
With its excellent transport links and future development potential, nieuwAmsterdam is a strong addition to our portfolio. Following our work on INGs Cedar headquarters and the current redevelopment of ABN AMROs home base at Foppingadreef, we are excited to further improve the quality of assets in Amsterdam-Zuidoost.

The acquisition was financed by Berlin Hyp who was legally represented by Van Doorne. Edge was advised by Loyens & Loeff and CBRE.
